B. Consider this
Minimum qualifications
Now that we've covered the What and How, watch this video so you're really prepared to build your program.
Video highlights
Regarding minimum qualifications, a sponsor needs to:
- Determine and document what qualifications a potential apprentice needs to be considered for and hired into their Registered Apprenticeship program (e.g., educational level, physical and aptitude requirements, certifications, and others).
- Consider what minimum qualifications are truly needed for an apprentice before entering the program. Setting the thresholds too high could limit the number and diversity of applicants applying.
- Remember, the main purpose of an apprenticeship is training, so sponsors should consider if some of their requirements can be learned on the job as part of the program. This would expand the applicant pool and provide an opportunity to partner with a pre-apprenticeship program provider and other recruitment partners.
